Safety Travel tips

People don't protect themselves with basic safety information. Avoid being a target of crime, try not to wear conspicuous clothing, expensive jewelry and do not carry excessive amounts of money or unnecessary credit cards.

If you can't lose it then leave it at home.

You don't not want to be a target for pickpockets, thieves and perhaps other safety concerns.

Where is your Embassy or Consulate located? Do you have the contact information? If you do get into trouble contact them as soon as possible.

At night keep in well light areas and carry a personal alarm or whistle. 

Don't leave your luggage unattended or acceept packages from strangers.

How safe is the airline, train, bus or the road you are traveling on?

Where are the problem areas in the city, town, country that you are visiting?  What areas should you avoid?  In some areas tour buses and beaches are high theft areas.  Tourist encounter many different crimes  including pickpockets, quick scams, hotel theft, smash & grabs, carjacking, street theft, sex assaults, and armed robbery.

Pickpockets are everywhere; buses, metro, museums, beaches, bars, elevators, etc.

Leave the "Do not Disturb" sign on the door. Leave the TV on but not loud. Don't leave water running. If the sink or bathtub backs up you will be responsible to a very large bill.

Test the hotel safe before you use it! What are the hotel hours?
